This year we're on the multi-vitamins and protein shakes. Following our samples Dr Quinn has prescribed a slew of stuff to get our anaemic soil back to rude health.
Actually anaemic is precisely what our green is not - the Fe is through the roof after years of 'Turf Hardener' and moss treatment.
Suffice to say our green is also 95% sand after annual top-dressing rituals, so no 7 tonnes of tradition for the foreseeable future.
Here's Sunday's cocktail

Here's Sunday's cocktail
- Sarel roll at 15mm to open the surface and create seed space
- Spray (Walkover) HydroAid + AquaCept - 3 tanks de-chlorinated @ (500ml + 250g)
- Autumn Fertilizer - 2 bags
- Seed - 15kg 3/4 bag
- CaSO4 - Granular Calcium Sulphate - 3 bags
- Traceolite - 6 bags
- Drag brush into surface
Pray for rain or use the sprinklers for the final time.
Remember - This is my prescription, yours may vary wildly
We used bowls-central.co.uk/soil-analysis-services and received a custom plan based on our green's needs.
I can't tell you whether it will work or even if I'll manage to stick to the diet; but I know I'm more confident that I have a reasonable plan that will start heading in the right direction.
Next up - Keeping going through the dark cool months.
