Hollow tining and scarifying = Groundsman and Graden. They're not a 70's cop duo but an autumn classic.
Having spent a day last weekend just on the Thatch-Away the next step is aeration.
We managed to squeeze one go with the AutoSlit but the next kit to get and outing is the Groundsman and Graden
These bad-boys will make some space for your soil to shift around and let the ground breathe and drink.
1 - Groundsman with Jumbo hollow tines - raises cores and removes a bit more thatch
2 - Graden as deep an close as possible - cuts the cores and opens up more surface
3 - Drag mat - run over the cuttings to separate the soil from the fluff
4 - Snowshovels (aluminium ones are best) scrape the fluff into long lines then scoop into barrow and you're done.
Ready to apply your treatments and seed.
Our ancient spiker (Turfman) and scarifier (Rotorake) kinda work but these are way better. We hire ours in, it's well worth it.
